The Military Wants to Dictate Private Land Use — and Washington State Might Let It

A bill currently in the Washington State legislature would grant commanders of military bases the power to dictate land-use planning anywhere in the state, including the power to close Puget Sound’s Hood Canal region to all civilian traffic. Critics of the bill fear that it is part of a larger strategy being used by the Department of Defense across the country.
