“Dahr Jamail: From Iraq to Afghanistan – The Media, The Troops and The New G.I. Resistance”

Veteran’s Art: Combat Paper Project & The Memorial Wall

The independent journalist Dahr Jamail, who has reported from the Middle East for the last five years, will offer a broad ranging lecture ranging from how the media contributed to the occupations of Iraq and Afghanistan, about those occupations and how, now, a growing GI resistance within the U.S. military is reacting to those realities.

Dahr Jamail is one of the most courageous independent journalists of our time. Repeatedly risking his life to get the truth on the ground during a time when we were constantly being bombarded with manufactured lies. He writes for the Inter Press Service, Le Monde Diplomatique, and Truthout among others. He reports on radio for Democracy Now! and has appeared on the BBC and NPR and numerous other stations around the globe. He was the recipient of the Martha Gellhorn Award for Journalism in 2008 and also the James Aronson Award for Social Justice Journalism
